Our journey together began at the tender age of 16, thanks to my older sister and a mutual friend introducing us. Damian and I lived over an hour apart from each other, and at the time we were not old enough to drive. Our relationship consisted of talking on the phone everyday and seeing each other on the weekends. Without the help of our parents, we would have had no way of seeing each other. We attended his Junior prom together, and felt so in love. Our whirlwind romance came to a fast stop when we got into a serious car accident.
After the accident we went our separate ways, still keeping in contact with one another over the years. The time apart allowed us to grow, make mistakes, and experience other relationships on our own. It is the fact that we went our separates and still found a way to come back together that truly makes me believe in fate. I do not think we ever stopped loving one another, because we quickly fell back in love. Our love was deeper than before and faced a lot of hardships along the way.
Damian knows that Christmas is one of my most favorite times of the year and when it came time to asking my hand in marriage he took that into consideration. It was Christmas Eve and my family just finished dinner. Damian was waiting for the perfect time to ask me, but was extremely nervous. He finally grew the courage and stood up at the table asking for everyone’s attention. He looked my family in theirs eyes and gave a truly heartfelt and loving speech about his love he had for me. He got down on one knee and asked me the question that would change the rest of my life, “Holly, will you marry me?”.
