James and I met when we both started working at Caesar’s Brookdale Resort during high school. We had a mutual friend who worked there first, and after we both starting working there, we were eventually introduced.
We actually both really disliked each other when we first met! James thought I had an attitude and I didn’t like him because he thought too highly of himself! But as we got to know each other from working together and hanging out with our mutual friends, we both realized we had a misconstrued first impression of each other, and the rest is history!
James and I had talked about getting engaged for awhile before it actually happened. We went to look at rings together and I picked out the one I liked. However, I didn’t know when he was actually going to buy it, and hadn’t expected him to for a few months, so when he actually proposed it was a surprise. It was the middle of the week on a Wednesday, and I had just finished working a 12 hours shift. I was really tired and planned on just going home and falling asleep. James called me after my shift and kept insisting on coming over, saying if I fell asleep it was fine and that he would just watch a movie. So of course, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the couch pillow and James turned a movie on. Before I knew it he was trying to wake me up as I kept saying, “James, what do you want, I’m sleeping?” Eventually I think he got fed up and said “Lisa, would you please just wake up, I’m trying to propose!” I was wide awake after that!!
We chose Stroudsmoor because of the location, being close to home and not too far for our guests to travel to, and because of all the wonderful things I have heard about it over the years of my mom working with you. I had also heard great reviews from others who have gotten married there, especially about the food and dining experience! We also really liked the convenience, with having floral, wedding cake and photography services available. We LOVED the bridal sampling, and really felt like we got a good sense of the quality of Stroudsmoor at that event.
Our Stroudsmoor Event Planner worked with us and was so helpful from the start with the whole planning process. She helped us to make sure every little detail was addressed and it really showed on the actual wedding day with how smooth and seamless everything played out on the day. She was also always available and easy to get in touch with whenever we had questions or needed to make a change to something for our big day.
Our cocktail hour couldn’t have been more perfect. The weather was beautiful on our wedding day, so we really got to enjoy space that the Lawnhaven had to offer. The food was PHENOMENAL!! We got so many compliments about the cocktail hour food from our friends and family. I was also impressed with how many attendants they had serving the hors d’oeuvres, no one had to wait for someone to come around with the appetizers, they just seemed to always be there with another new appetizer to try. The reception went perfectly. Again, the entree food was incredible! There was plenty of food and drinks and our guests had a great time.
If I remember one thing about our wedding day, it was probably just how seamless the whole day was (and I feel like I have never heard that from anyone) and also the great food and delicious cake!
